Creating a new recovery code

Description

You can no longer find the recovery code that was issued when you registered your AGOV account.

Instructions

If at least one functioning login factor (AGOV access app or security key) is registered in your AGOV account, you can create a new recovery code.
  1. Log in to your (agov.ch/me) AGOV account.

  2. Go to Login factors , click on the "Recovery code" button and select Manage code .

  3. Click on Create new code .

  4. Creation of the new code must be confirmed with a login factor.

    The prompts may differ depending on the Android and iOS version.

    1. You will receive a push notification from AGOV access app, which will be displayed in the status bar on your smartphone or tablet. Click on the push notification to confirm the entries with the AGOV access app.

      If no push notification is displayed, check whether push notifications for the AGOV access app are enabled (see help article: Why doesn't the AGOV access app receive push notifications?).


    2. Confirm using your PIN, fingerprint or Face ID.

    3. Click on Continue to finalise the confirmation.
      Successful registration is displayed in the AGOV access app.

    1. Click on Start confirmation.

    2. Select the security key option and connect it to your PC's USB port.

    3. Enter your security key PIN.

    1. Click on Start Verification.

  5. The new code is displayed masked.

  6. Unhide the new code by clicking on Show code and make a note of it, or download the PDF to save or print.
