How is the identity verification launched?

Description

The authorities' online services require different proofs of identity. If your AGOV account does not yet have the required proof of identity, an identity verification is automatically triggered the first time you log in to the online service.

Once the required identity verification has been completed, your AGOV-Login can be used with the online service. Various verification procedures are available for the identity check, depending on your place of residence.

Identity verification procedure
The level of proof of identity is determined by the online service. AGOV triggers an appropriate identity verification procedure based on the required proof of identity and the account holder's place of residence:
  1. Address verification
    AGOV checks online via the Swiss Post address database whether mail can be delivered to the domicile address for the name provided. A letter with a verification code is sent by first-class post (A Post) to the account holder for the proof of identity process: Address verification

  2. Identity verification
    Proof of identity will be required in the form of a personal identity check of the account holder. Depending on the place of residence, AGOV offers the following identity verification procedures:
