Login with an online public service with a security key

Description

The AGOV-Login does not require a password and can be used with the online services of public authorities and federal offices. This eliminates the need to manage multiple logins and store user data multiple times.

Instructions

Registration
Before the first use, an AGOV account must be registered. Registration is usually triggered by logging in to or registering with an online service. Alternatively, an AGOV account can also be registered directly at agov.ch/me and then used to log in to online services.

To register, you will need an email address and a smartphone/tablet with the AGOV access app installed, or a security key as a login factor. The registration process is explained in the following help articles:

The display may differ depending on the version of Windows and web browser.
  1. On the AGOV login page, select the Security key option and click on Start security key login­.

    The AGOV app remembers the last login method used. Other methods can be selected under Other login methods.

  2. Enter the email address to which your AGOV account is registered. Click on Login.

  3. Read the instructions and click on Continue.
    A screen will appear showing your email address, which can still be changed. Follow the instructions. If desired, this window can be skipped at the next login.

  4. Select the Security key option and insert the security key into the USB port on your computer.
    An authentication window will open where you have to select the security key. The security key must be plugged into the computer's USB port.

  5. Enter your security key PIN and confirm it as prompted.

    Indicates that you should tap your security key.

    After successfully logging in, you will be redirected to the online service.

  1. On the AGOV login page, select the Security Key option and click Start Security Key Login.

  2. Enter the email address associated with your AGOV account. Click Login.

  3. Select the Security Key option

  4. Attach the security key to your Mac and tap it.

  5. Enter the PIN for your security key. Tap the security key to confirm.

  1. On the AGOV login page, select the Security Key option and click Start Security Key Login.

  2. Enter the email address associated with your AGOV account. Click Login.

  3. Select the USB Security Key option.

  4. Attach the security key to your Mac and tap it.

  5. Enter the PIN for your security key. Tap the security key to confirm.
