Deleting (archiving) your AGOV account
Description
You no longer wish to use your AGOV login and therefore want to archive the account.Archiving renders the identity checks invalid and all links to online public services are irrevocably deleted. If you need an AGOV login again at a later date, you can register a new AGOV account using the same email address.
Why is my AGOV account only archived, rather than deleted? ▼×
In order to ensure the traceability of procedures carried out with AGOV authentication prior to deletion, the AGOV ID must be archived for a certain period (Art. 41 para 3 let. d of the FADP). In such cases, the AGOV ID is marked as archived, and locked.
Under Article 41 paragraph 2 letter a of the FADP (federal body), any person who has a legitimate interest may request that the personal data processed in AGOV be deleted, which includes deletion of the AGOV ID. A deletion request must, however, contain the reasons for such a request. This process is done in writing, and is checked by the responsible body (FCh/DTI) on a case-by-case basis.
