AGOV access App
Operating Systems and Technical Requirements

The AGOV access App is subject to enhanced security requirements in accordance with the applicable federal information security regulations.

Operation of the application is permitted exclusively within system environments that fully meet the defined technical and security-related requirements.

Outdated operating system versions

If you receive an error message when scanning the QR code, a possible reason may be that you are using an operating system that is no longer supported. Please check whether your device is updated to the latest operating system version. If not, update it. Also update the AGOV access app if it is not already running the latest version. Then repeat the login using the AGOV access app. If the error still occurs on your device, you are unfortunately using an operating system version that is not compatible with AGOV.

The following operating system versions are currently supported:

  • Android: version 11 and higher
  • iOS: version 15 and higher

Permitted System Environments

Use of the AGOV access App is permitted exclusively on:
  1. Original Apple iOS operating systems
  2. Original Android operating systems from manufacturers certified by Google
  3. Operating system versions that continue to receive official security updates from the manufacturer
Operation is not permitted, in particular, on:
  1. Rooted Android devices
  2. iOS devices that have undergone a jailbreak
  3. Systems running modified, unofficial, or altered operating system versions
  4. Devices on which critical security mechanisms have been disabled or circumvented
In such cases, execution of the application is technically blocked.

Operating System Version Requirements

As a general rule, only operating system versions that continue to be supported by the respective manufacturer through security updates are supported.

In addition:

  1. The AGOV access App may refuse operation of specific versions in the event of known security vulnerabilities.
  2. In duly justified exceptional cases, the application may temporarily tolerate the use of outdated versions (see FAQ: FAQ 4.8).
  3. There is no entitlement to support for any specific version.
Responsibility for ensuring that the end device is up to date lies with the user or the competent organisation.

Obtaining Information on Operating System Versions

Information regarding update capability and support status of iOS or Android versions must be obtained exclusively from official manufacturer sources or other appropriate public information channels.

Important:
Do you no longer have a login factor for your AGOV login, e.g. due to loss or defect, you will lose all access via AGOV and will have to complete the complex recovery process in the AGOV support portal «AGOV me». Avoid this by also registering one or more additional mobile device(s) in your AGOV account with the AGOV access app or an additional security key (FIDO2).
